Dual Language Education of New Mexico, or DLENM, has announced it will host virtual summer institutes in June of this year. The AIMS43 Math Institute, scheduled to take place June 1-2, will give attendees the opportunity to learn interactive new strategies to employ with students. Topics will include:
- Visual Mathematics from Jo Boaler’s work at youcubed
- How to plan and deliver AIMS43 Inside-Out Problem
- Pacing math curriculum during SY 20-21 after the COVID school closures
This year’s institute is open to all teachers interested in deepening their mathematical understanding. During the institute attendees will collaborate with fellow educators on how to best meet the needs of English learners (ELs) and students who struggle with mathematics.

Target Audience: K-12 math teachers and instructional leaders
OCDE Project GLAD and the DL Leadership & Native Language Program Institute, scheduled to take place June 3-4, is designed to strengthen and expand the understanding and implementation of best practices for language learners. The institute is designed for both novice and experienced K-12 teachers and school administrators, so that they may expand their knowledge of how to serve culturally and linguistically diverse learners.
Open to all, this year’s institute will feature leading experts focused on supporting attendees’ needs and guiding them through this ever-changing educational climate English language learners and Emerging Bilinguals.
